Proverbs 9

PASSAGE TO MEMORIZE THIS WEEK: 

There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him:

Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil,
false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

PROVERBS 6:16-19 

 

 

Proverbs 9: Putting Your Future with Wisdom Into Perspective

 

Proverbs 9 delves into the benefits of being wise as well as the disadvantages of refusing Wisdom.  Just like yesterday, I have placed the verses beside my summaries for you to follow along.

 

(1-2) Wisdom has prepared a place where we can celebrate together forever.

(3-6) Wisdom has instructed all servants to invite everyone in the world to this celebration, and wisdom will not force anyone to attend.

(7-8) There is no need to get angry with those who decide to decline Wisdom’s invitation, it will only cause you grief.

(9-10) Instead, celebrate with the ones you know will be joining you and Wisdom at the celebration.  Continue praying with the Holy One for the people who declined the invitation to change their mind.

(11-12) Because Wisdom has shown us the blessings of life vs. the suffering of death if we refuse Wisdom.

(13-18) The world is so tempting to those without Wisdom.  They bow before temptation, not realizing until it is too late that they have chosen death.

For our benefit and understanding, I am going to replace every “Wisdom” with the powerful name of “Jesus” just like we did yesterday.

 

●Jesus has prepared a place where we can celebrate together forever.
