All Worth It

It's MONDAY!  I was in desperate need of a quiet, beautiful morning with a cup of coffee and The Word.  I got quiet but maybe not so beautiful.  How about you?  It's Monday, so I'm sure you are right there with me! I also have Monday brains so this is going to be a collage of scattered thoughts! (Just fair warning!)

We had a good but busy weekend.  We went shopping at a local Goodwill and found two skirts, 3 shirts, and two pairs of dress shoes (for the little girls) for a super great deal.  It is only my third time to go, so I hope I get a knack for it.  (Being frugal is a lot of work!)  I am hoping to learn the art of garage sales and couponing!  If you are an expert, please leave me some tips in the comments.  I could use all the encouragement I can get.

I am trying with all that is within me to not get over excited, but any day (Any day being within the next two weeks!) we're going to be meeting our newest nephew (nephew #16), Benjamin.  I love babies!  I love how cuddly they are.  I love the way they smell!  I love the sweet sounds they make!  I LOVE BABIES! (Did I say that already!?!)
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Psalm 127:1
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.  Psalm 139:13 NLT

From the time girls are little they love baby dolls.  When they get a little older they want to hold a real baby if they can possibly get their hands on them.  I believe it is a God-given desire within girls and women to love babies.  It is the desire to nurture.
A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. John 16:21
So true!  It is amazing how quickly you forget the woes of pregnancy and the pain of child birth when they place your newborn into your arms.  You know at that moment it was ALL WORTH IT!

The job as Mother requires long hours.  To do it well and enjoy it you must learn J.O.Y.  (Jesus first, Others second, Yourself last.)  The world would have you believe that you are missing out on life because of your children.  IT IS A LIE!  You are embracing the life that God has blessed you with!

God's Helpers

God could not be in every place
With loving hands to help erase
The teardrops from each baby’s face,
And so He thought of mother.

He could not send us here alone
And leave us to a fate unknown;
Without providing for His own,
The outstretched arms of mother.

God could not watch us night and day
And kneel beside our crib to pray,
Or kiss our little aches away;
And so He sent us mother.

And when our childhood days began,
He simply could not take command.
That’s why He placed our tiny hand
Securely into mother’s.

The days of youth slipped quickly by,
Life’s sun rose higher in the sky.
Full grown were we, yet ever nigh
To love us still, was mother.

And when life’s span of years shall end,
I know that God will gladly send,
To welcome home her child again,
That ever-faithful mother.

Don't you want to go call your mother now!!!!

Yesterday was my Grandmother's birthday (Hugs and kisses to my Nannie! And no, I won't be telling you how old she is, SHE'S A WOMAN!).  As I was wishing her Happy Birthday at church, I was thinking what an awesome fact that four generations of our family are serving the Lord!  That thought made me realize that everything I do as mother is ALL WORTH IT!  I want to be in her position one day, and see the next 3 generations of my family loving and faithfully serving Jesus.

  1. I have a fantastic mother who has never failed me. The words of the poem evoke a very nice thought.
As for being frugal and looking for bargains, there's as much fun in the hunting as in the finding. I wish I lived closer to a nice Goodwill.

    1. Of course, after I felt like I had done a really great thing by shopping at Goodwill, it was pointed out to me that the CEO of Goodwill makes like $2.3 million dollars a year off things donated to him, pays his employees minimum wage, and donates NOTHING to any charitable causes. I would like to look in to shopping Salvation Army. Wish me luck!

    2. Garage sales are fun. I had to learn to be selective. I would buy things I didn't need. If you think an item is priced too high you can offer a lower price. It's part of the fun. All they can do is say no if they don't want to come down. Many times they will accept your offer.
